IKEA Kuching Opens 27 November with 5,000 Articles at the Same IKEA Prices as Peninsular Malaysia.

IKEA Kuching to open 27 November in Batu Kawa

IKEA Malaysia has confirmed that IKEA Kuching will officially open its doors on 27 November 2026 at Pines Mall, Batu Kawa, bringing the physical IKEA store experience to Sarawak for the first time.

The opening marks a milestone in IKEA Malaysia’s expansion and introduces the retailer’s first small-format store in Malaysia. The new store will give customers access to around 5,000 home furnishing articles, selected products to take home on the day, home furnishing expertise and a grab-and-go IKEA Food experience.

Smaller store format, same IKEA experience

While IKEA Kuching will be smaller than the flagship stores in Damansara, Cheras, Tebrau and Batu Kawan, customers can still expect home furnishing inspiration, room settings, affordable products, planning services and food in a more compact shopping environment.

Customers will be able to explore home furnishing solutions across key areas of the home, purchase selected furniture and accessories immediately, and order from a wider range of around 5,000 articles for collection or home delivery.

The range will include everyday essentials and furniture for living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, kitchens, storage and children’s spaces.

Customers can also look forward to familiar IKEA products, including the SKOGSTA dining table, KALLAX shelving unit, POÄNG armchair, NIPÅSEN bench, BILLY bookcase and IKEA 365+ range.

For those planning larger home improvements, IKEA Kuching will also provide home furnishing expertise and planning support.

“The opening of IKEA Kuching will be a very special moment for us because it brings us closer to our vision of creating a better everyday life at home for the many people,” said Takeshi Murai, Country Retail Director, IKEA Malaysia. “For the first time, Sarawakians will be able to experience IKEA physically, right here in Kuching.”

“What excites me most is the opportunity to reach more people in a way that feels relevant to how they live, giving them a place to explore ideas, find inspiration and discover affordable solutions for their homes. Whether it is one small improvement or a more complete home solution, we want good design, function and quality to be within reach of the many.”

“For me, that is what our next chapter of growth is about – getting closer to people, understanding what they need and making the IKEA experience more accessible to more Malaysians.”

The same IKEA prices, now closer to home

IKEA Kuching will offer the same prices on products and services as IKEA stores in Peninsular Malaysia, without an additional East Malaysia price premium.

This means Sarawakians will be able to purchase IKEA products at the same prices as customers in Peninsular Malaysia, whether they are shopping for everyday household essentials, storage solutions or larger furniture pieces. This is in line with IKEA’s vision of making life at home more affordable and helping everyone create a home they enjoy living in.

“Affordability is an important part of that promise, and Sarawakians will enjoy the same IKEA prices as customers in Peninsular Malaysia,” Murai emphasised.

“As we grow IKEA in Malaysia, my priority is to make sure we stay true to what matters, which is understanding how people live, creating real value in their everyday lives, and keeping good design within reach of the many.”

Meatballs, curry puffs and hot dogs are coming too

IKEA Kuching will also introduce a grab-and-go food format adapted for the smaller store.

Customers can look forward to familiar IKEA favourites, including its meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soft serve, alongside a selection of Swedish food products to take home.

IKEA Family membership benefits

Customers visiting IKEA Kuching can also join IKEA Family, with members eligible for selected offers, benefits and activities throughout the year.

Celebrate IKEA Kuching’s opening weekend

Opening celebrations will take place from 27 to 29 November 2026, with activities planned throughout the weekend.

Further details on opening activities and IKEA Family offers will be announced closer to the launch.
