MakanMakan begins the year with Pesta Melanau!

Did you miss out on the flights to Mukah? Fret not because MakanMakan Sarawak is bringing you Pesta Melanau right here, in Kuching.

If you have been curious about Pesta Kaul or the traditional cuisines and cultural practices of our Melanau friends, get your tickets for MakanMakan Sarawak: Pesta Melanau today.

As the first of annual MakanMakan events, Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) and the Sarawak Development Institute (SDI) together with The Champions are organising MakanMakan Sarawak: Pesta Melanau this April 22 at Damai Beach Resort from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

MakanMakan is a cultural-culinary sharing aimed at learning and experiencing the diverse food culture, practises and traditions of the many ethnic groups within Sarawak. This is the first MakanMakan to be held this year, in conjunction with the cultural festivals in Malaysia – Chinese New Year, Hari Gawai, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali and so forth.

YPS and its partners seek to provide a communal platform which invites all Malaysians and non-Malaysians to learn and understand more about one another’s food culture while fostering stronger cross-cultural understanding and acceptance.

Each MakanMakan features the traditional and authentic cuisines, as well as, introductions to cultural practises and customs of the diverse communities in order to educate our society about the rich heritage and culture within Malaysia – in turn, directly contributing to the preservation of Malaysian culture and traditions.

The collaborative partners for the event are the Melanau Association of Kuching (PMK) and Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak (MAIS). Those who have bought tickets to attend are encouraged to come in traditional Melanau attire or smart casual attire.
