Hong Kong’s most exciting event Marco Polo German Bierfest, is back this Oct 17 to 27.
Bringing a carnival-like experience to its unique outdoor setting, the event is set against spectacular harbour views at Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel.
Here are three reasons you should be there if possible 11 straight days at Marco Polo German Bierfest 2019:
1.Fresh Experiences under the Beer Tent
The true sign of a great Oktoberfest is the size of its tent, featuring jumbo fixtures alongside distinctive characteristics.
This year, Marco Polo German Bierfest brings you a giant transparent marquee for the very first time, allowing for a fascinating view of the Hong Kong skyline.
Seated inside the open-air beer tent, guests are entertained in classic Bavarian style, surrounding by the magnificent Victoria Harbour.
2.German Cuisine & Beers
As Hong Kong’s most popular and longest-running German beer festival, the Marco Polo German Bierfest proudly serves ERDINGER. It is a wheat beer dating back more than 130 years.
There are five beers ($90/ glass) are available, including classic Erdinger Weissbier and Erdinger Dunkel.
Traditionally matured in the bottle like champagne, fresh yeast is added to Erdinger Weissbier and followed by placing in a 40°C thermostatic room for second fermentation.
It offers a unique fruity note and smoothness. For the Erdinger Dunkel, roasted malt is introduced at the time of brewing to exude the mellow, roasting aroma.
Marco Polo German Bierfest is also the only venue in Hong Kong to offer Stiftungs Helles Lager. This drink is known for its harmonious taste, mild and pure freshness.
Plus, there are limited quantities of Erdinger Alkoholfrei, a wheat beer with only less than 0.5% alcohol and special-edition Erdinger Oktoberfestbier, its gold colour and seasonal notes produced once a year for the festival, allowing guests to enjoy a truly genuine Oktoberfest vibe in Hong Kong.
Along with its selection of fine Bavarian beers, guests can savour authentic German dishes.
These include Roast Pork Knuckle Served with Braised Red Cabbage and Gratinated Potato (HK$185), Pan-fried Sausages “Nürnberger” Style with Sauerkraut and Mashed Potato (HK$150), Roast Herb-marinated Half Chicken with Carrot and Potato Salad(HK$160), Pan-fried Salmon Cutlet served with Creamed Spinach and Boiled New Potato (HK$160), and Roast Lamb Leg with Garlic Served with Braised Red Cabbage and Gratinated Potato (HK$165).
Ending the hearty feast is an array of traditional German desserts, such as Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, German Cheesecake with Forest Berry Compote, Black Forest Cake and Fresh Strawberry Tart with Ice Cream, all served at HK$85 per portion.
3.Enjoy the music from Die Notenhobler band
Since 1994, the Die Notenhobler band has been the official band of Marco Polo German Bierfest.
Hailing from Germany, the rousing musicians wear traditional Oberkrainer clothes as they sing traditional tunes and play hearty folk music.
Their entertaining antics alongside popular drinking competitions and traditional games, such as the Alphorn-blowing Contest and Chicken Dance, make it a memorable night for partygoers.
The band Show Times are 7:30pm-11:00pm.
